Serious, Life Altering Problem

Ok, that's a bit of an exaggeration. This problem is far from life altering. My crib mobile doesn't fit! My crib sides aren't normal and so it won't hook on.

I found this bird mobile through Mighty Goods, a great shopping blog, and I need input! Help! Is it good for a little one? It isn't made for babies but that doesn't matter, right? The baby can't have nothing to look at. Won't that make him dim?

Adventures in Sewing- and a crib...

I took my first sewing class over the weekend. I wanted to learn how to make something from a pattern and how to sew by the rules. Great 2 hours- killed the back- can't do it again until post baby- but look what I made!

It is the tote sitting inside the new crib which I helped put together by sorting screws. Beautiful white crib, with no scratches, please stay that way.

Anyhow, the tote- it is linen, which I plan to use a lot more of. I decided on natural for the outside and blue for the inside and the cell phone pocket you can kinda see on the side. That was my very own idea, the cell phone pocket.

Big things planned for today including the weekly doc visit to test baby and me and returning some stinky goods to Pottery Barn Kids. I spent $90 on three cloth bins for the baby's room and got them home and they smelled like they had taken a long bath in chemicals. So, I washed them and now they smell worse! Yuck- Pottery Barn will take them back, or else...

Best Bunny Site Ever!

It's true. I have found the best bunny site ever through my favorite bunny blog, Hopperhome.

I think the new site, Boing Rabbit and Bunny Info might be the all inclusive bunny site you all have been looking for. Use it along with The House Rabbit Society page and you are good to go on keeping buns. This pic is of one of their many rescued rabbits.

Dachshund Bud Toys

How cute are these hand made doxie bud toys. Not for buds, for babies.
They are made by Sian Keegan who I found via decor8- very cool blog.
Anywho, Sian is not selling these online quite yet but her blog promises she will be doing so soon. Hopefully in time for my little one.

Miss Potter

I am watching the movie "Because I Said So" right now and I am terribly bored. Too tired to leave the house but this movie isn't cutting it. I find myself sitting here wondering when a good movie will be out on video and I remembered that Miss Potter will be coming out soon (see trailer on the link), June 19th to be exact. I don't know if this movie will be any good but it looks entertaining and is set at the turn of the century so the costumes will at least be interesting. Best of all, it is about a woman with a vision who wrote about buns and kept pet buns. Can't wait to watch it. Until then I will start my boring movie back up and sit tight.
And yes, this is a plea for comments containing must see films for the fat pregnant lady.

Oompa Loompa

Remember how I was saying that I wish that I didn't have to pick the least toxic baby products, and that I wish I could just buy non-toxic products. Well, there is hope. One of the sites I have been perusing is Oompa Toys. They carry a wide variety of non-toxic wood toys.

Can I just say, I love wood toys. They are so much nicer to look at than plastic and can be passed to many children and generations to come. I do believe they will be treasured far beyond their plastic counterparts as well. My baby (still unborn, so he doesn't know it yet) wants this sweet kitchen and this push car for all his favorite toys. Maybe his mom will get them for his birthday and Christmas gifts? Maybe his dad will have a problem with him having a kitchen? Maybe his mom doesn't care...

I got tagged.

Oh No! I was tagged for the MeMe game and now I have to share 7 random facts about myself. Let me know if I shock you! Long post so buckle down...

1. I still sleep with a blanky. This is because when I was 6 my mom stole my blanky from my bed in the middle of the night and disposed of it. I barely recovered. She told me that someone called the "Blanket Lady" comes in the middle of the night if kids don't stop sucking their thumbs and steals their blankies. This lead to frantic blanky searches many nights, until one night the evil "Blanket Lady" actually came. One of my good friends felt so bad for me she bought me another blanky a few years back and I haven't let go of it since. Can you say regression? Thanks mom...

2. I stare at my dog constantly. I think everything he does is so cute. The way he lays, the way his eyes look, his pretty red eyelashes. He is just so innocent and different than us and it's fun and interesting to watch. If this is weird then tell me but I probably won't care. I catch myself saying "look at Ishii" about a hundred times a night to my husband. But he loves to watch Ishii too so he doesn't mind.

3. I majored in Philosophy at Seattle University and find the subject fascinating and not at all confusing or difficult. That logically leads to a career in real estate right? No.

4. I am a total dork and love a few dorky things. Not shocking is it? But I actually really love Disneyland and Harry Potter, this is no act. They make me happy and bring me back to a place that makes the world seem somewhat bearable when you see all the suffering around us. The Harry Potter theme park that was just announced is actually one of the highlights of my year.

5. I hate housework, yard work, cleaning, cooking, etc. I don't get joy out of these things at all. No sense of accomplishment is found in these tasks for me. I do get a sense of joy from paying someone to clean my house and seeing it all sparkly- or paying for a great meal and really enjoying it. It just never looks right when I do it. My paternal grandmother actually asked my husband why he was marrying me. I would much rather be in Disneyland.

6. On my TiVo is: Law and Order SVU, House, Bringing Home Baby, Craft in America, Oprah, Desperate Housewives, Grey's, Good Eats (hoping to learn to love cooking- not working), Planet Earth, Miami Ink, Flip That House, Chimps: So Like Us, House Hunters, Fatal Attraction. It is full right now. My point... I love TV and I am not looking forward to having it off all the time when there is an impressionable baby running around. But I will. At night my husband and I say "What are we doing tonight?". The literal translation of this is "What's on tv?".

7. I stopped eating meat when I was 12. That is when we got Tootsie, my first dog, a dachshund. I loved her and was stunned by her range of emotions and how important she was to me. I couldn't imagine eating her and so I stopped eating animals. It seemed unnatural and still does. And that was also the beginning of my self education on animal rights and the suffering of animals. Well, if we all knew where our meat comes from we would have A LOT more vegetarians in the world. So, thank Tootsie for changing a 12 year old and altering the direction of her life forever.

And now I am tagging Nora of Out on Paper, Tanja of Once Upon a Time, Amy of Good to be Girl, Lauren of the Pretending to Farm blog if she reads this, Jessica of How About Orange if she reads this, and who else?.......

Someone help me talk my husband into letting me use this as the wallpaper in our downstairs bath. Isn't it the best?

I have an aversion to wallpaper and until now I couldn't understand why anyone would still be using it, post 1980 that is. But I have been reborn in the wallpaper movement now that I have seen this print by Cole and Son on Rose and Radish.

I think that the black and white would be great because I love an all white bathroom and imagine it with my white claw foot tub. Imagine........
